At any time, you can publish an episode to your personal podcast. Keep in mind even after publishing an episode, you can go back and edit as necessary!
Publishing options include:
- Only on Anchor
Tap the 'Gear' icon on the right-hand side after selecting an episode where the 'Status' is listed to alter this.
After you create your first recording or segment of an episode, you’ll be prompted to add it to an episode. Title the segment something that’s easy to remember and distinguishes it from future segments you will create.
If you haven't yet published your episode you’ll then be prompted to publish your episode. If you’re not ready yet, just tap ‘Not yet’. You can always choose to publish at a later time.
If you are ready to publish your episode, you can:
- Edit the episode title
- Edit the episode description
- Distribute your podcast externally to additional platforms (we recommend this!)
- If you only wish to publish it on Anchor, toggle that button
- Share your episode via Twitter and/or Facebook
If you choose to distribute externally, you will then be prompted to set up your podcast!
You will then be able to:
- Edit your podcast name
- Edit your podcast description
- Choose your podcast cover art
- Pick your podcast category
All of your podcast information can be edited later on as well, from your account settings.
To start creating your podcast, you’ll want to create your first episode here.
Once you’re done creating your first episode, click ‘Save Episode' in the upper right.
At this point, you can edit many options including the episode name, description, and even edit advanced publishing settings. Access those by clicking on ‘Advanced publish settings’.
Once you are ready, click the ‘Publish episode’ button!
If you wish to distribute your podcast on external podcast providers, you can also do this from your account settings here.
Click on ‘Where your podcast can be heard’, and then the ‘click here’ button.
Next click ‘Yes, distribute everywhere’.
Managing your RSS feed:
By default, we handle distribution of new podcasts created on Anchor, but if you prefer to distribute and manage your podcast yourself, you're welcome to do that too! Just grab your RSS feed from your settings in the Anchor dashboard, and then paste in your URL on each service as it gets approved.
How to find your RSS feed:
- Go to your 'Settings' page here
- Scroll down and click 'Advanced'
- Copy your RSS feed
